Who Are We?

Who is "Advanced Practice Prep?"

Ava is an experienced NP who is passionate about helping grow Advanced Practitioners nationwide!

Dr. Ava Chase DNP FNP-BC  has been in practice for the past 20 years. She is a Family Nurse Practitioner who owned two  of her own practices in Iowa and has relocated to California and is working at a Community Health Center in inner city San Diego. Her niche has been in Latino Health Care as she speaks fluent Spanish. She has also taught at a major university since 2003 and wrote the Advanced Practice Procedures Course as well as the Primary Care of Adults and Primary Care of Pediatrics courses. Dr. Chase (formerly Dr. Ava Eagles) has precepted several NP students as well as nursing students, pharmacy students, and medical assistant students. She also performs a wide variety of procedures and is currently teaching primary care procedures to Family Practice Residents. She has spoken at several conferences including speaking engagements at the National AANP Conference, the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the Florida Nurse Practitioners Network, and the California NP Society.

Rachael Warren- Event Coordinator:  Rachael comes to Advanced Practice Prep with over 12 years experience in the medical industry. Beginning her career as an Administrative and Clinical Medical Assistant, she ultimately founded a Home Care Agency focusing on care and rehabilitation of traumatic brain injury clients. As a former successful small business owner, Rachael's leadership, organizational and administrative skills make her an important asset to the Advanced Practice Prep Team. Rachael schedules the venues for the courses, coordinates the event, and ensures all the logistics are handled.  She also handles the registrations for the courses, and is the cheery voice on the other end of the APP phone!
Dee Rouse-Certification Coordinator:  Dee brings many years of medical experience to Advanced Practice Prep.  Dee is a radiology technologist and worked with Ava Chase in clinical practice for many years.  Dee has worked at APP since 2015 and handles the certifications through AANP and AAPA.  She submits all reporting and maintains all the records concerning APP's certifying bodies.

​Sherri Bernardo-Course Support Coordinator:  Sherri handles all supply orders for the courses offered by Advanced Practice Prep.  She also works closely with the course instructors to ensure supplies arrive in a timely manner. 

Carrie Boland-Database Assistant:  Carrie assists with the coordination of our database and customer relations management.  Carrie has a B.A. in Business Administration.  

Morgan Henry-Database Assistant:  Morgan has a degree from Washington University of St. Louis.  She helps with coordination of the database and our customer relations management software.  

Mona Athalye-Bookeeper:  ​Mona does the bookkeeping for Advanced Practice Prep as well as the payroll.  She has an extensive experience working in an Accounting office and has been with APP since 2014.

Course Directors and Course Assistants:

Dr. Mary Dugan, DNP, FNP-C has been a Family Nurse Practitioner since 1998.  She has an MSN from Wayne State University, a Post-Masters FNP certification from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and a DNP from Oakland University.  She has practiced as an FNP in primary care and emergency department settings for the past 20 years and has taught for many years in both undergraduate and graduate nursing programs.

​Samantha Kuplicki MSN APRN-CNS CWS RNFA is an Advanced Practice Nurse/Adult Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist.  She is also an RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assist).  Samantha completed both her BSN and MSN at University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Tulsa.  She currently works in surgery in many capacities including suturing incisions and performing wound management.  She also manages patients in both the pre and post operative settings.  Samantha has taught suturing at state conferences and has experience in a wide variety of procedures.

Donna Cruey MSN FNP has 23 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.  She obtained her MSN at University of Virginia in Charlottesville and earned her Post Masters Certification as an FNP at University of Tennessee at Knoxville.  All of her years in practice have been in rural areas, which has allowed her to perform a wide array of procedures.  



Dr. Becky Liebert DNP FNP has been a Family Nurse Practitioner since 2005 and is also as a board certified Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner in Wisconsin.  She completed her MSN and DNP degrees at Graceland University in Independence, Missouri.  She currently works in Orthopedic Surgery.  She also recently left a full time position as a Professor for an NP program at a university in Wisconsin.  Her clinical background combined with her extensive educational background makes her an ideal fit for the programs provided by Advanced Practice Prep.

​​Susan Ruxton MSN FNP ​is a Family Nurse Practitioner.  She graduated from the University of Wyoming-Laramie with her MS-FNP in 2010.  She lives in Florida and works as a Primary Care Provider, providing care and performing procedures in a VA Medical Center.
​



​John Sallis PA-C, MMS, MBA has been a Physician Assistant since 2002.  In addition to his PA certification, he has an MBA  and a Masters in Medical Science.  His PA experience has been in Family Practice, the Emergency Department, and Occupational Medicine and he has a wide array of experience in procedures.

Brandi Harden APRN-CNP is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner in Oklahoma. She completed her MSN degree at Maryville University in Saint Louis, Missouri.  She currently works in Urgent Care, Geriatrics, and Mental Health.  Her many years of clinical background are combined with her educational attributes from practice in rural areas, which has allowed her to perform a wide array of procedures as well as practicing on patients of varying ages. She has also taught in undergraduate nursing programs. 

Tamera Ostenaa APRN NP-C FNP received her BSN from Concordia College in Moorhead MN in 2001.  She later graduated from Maryville University  with her MSN-FNP.  She has a background in teaching at Bemidji State University and now works as an FNP in a rural clinic in northern Minnesota.
